Florida is known for its resiliency in enduring and responding to all types of hazards, natural or man-made. When a public health incident or emergency threatens Florida’s residents and visitors, the ability to collect precise detailed situational awareness, share data, and receive and deliver fast, accurate and consistent communications can save lives.
As the lead agency for Emergency Support Function 8 (ESF8), the Florida Department of Health is responsible for coordinating public health preparedness efforts statewide. One component of this responsibility is ensuring that plans, personnel, equipment, and systems are in place to protect the safety and health of responders.
The Florida Health Responder Tracking system is intended to support this responsibility by enhancing the following key capabilities:
- The identification and deployment of responders with critical skill sets to support county emergency operations.
- Tracking deployed responders to ensure they safely reach their deployment destination, are safe for the duration of the deployment, and safely return home following the completion of their service.
- Responder demobilization activities to ensure responders have the resources necessary to safely return home.
